Managed to locate a complete NG engine being stripped. Replacement breather pipe with mounting bracket and good condition rubber inlet duct on their way on Monday.

Looking forward to getting these on and being able to plant the throttle again without worrying about grinding to a halt again!

That strange shape pipe is the later metal pipe mod that replaced a previously rubber hose, expensive mod back in the day - but cures the 'rubber hose turned to jelly' problem! And the big air leak that leans the mixture ratio out.

Aye, I've got a 30x100mm spring inside my 100t. the disintegration is scary, think it was running like a solid fueled rocket when I bought it.

John, I already have the short metal section of pipe in my car. If the pipes line up without me needing to use the new one in the pic you're welcome to it.

I'm sure between the two pipes there'll be one for you

The one in my bay at the moment is metal, other one should be too. The only rubber bit should be the short section between the two.

John: parts arrived today. Pipes look to be in good order (if a lot of old oil in them) with no breaks.

I'll get the breather pipes fitted either tomorrow eve or at the weekend. Assuming there is no cockup I should have the pipe you want by the end of the week at the latest.

I'll keep you up to date

Got round to cleaning the replacement air inlet duct and crank breather pipe this afternoon. Bit of old oil at the crank end but no splits in the rubbers:

Once all the clips were tightened up the car runs again! Also don't have to worry about the inertube roadside repair coming off now so it can be gunned again. Nice to be able to drive it again at pace.

Picture of the split in the junction for the breather pipe on my original inlet duct. Most likely the reason why one of the previous owners removed the pipe and sealed up the hole (badly).

John: I've got that metal breather pipe from the crank end here for you. Do you want it posted over?

So a happy repair/ replacement job. No longer got an open pipe in the engine bay or a bodged repair waiting to go at anytime
