Persevere, he has a stack of stuff I think!

Don't usually go back to someone once they've ignored me, there's no excuse for it But on your recommendations I may try again in new year

Dealt with him a few times on the phone Carl for quickness and always found him helpful and cheap. That was a couple years ago though.

Well it was a sloppy bodge that lasted me until the weekend just there. The car lost all power while under heavy acceleration and then cut out when I coasted to a halt.

The crappy rubber sealant that was on the underside of the intake duct, where the breather pipe is meant to go in, had blown off. As it's a vacuum system the car wasn't drawing up any fuel.

Got a roadside repair sorted that got the car going again. Continued the journey and then a further 200 miles home the next day. Going to need a new intake duct for the fuel intake as the rubber is split. I'm assuming the split rubber is why the breather pipe has been removed and the open hole sealed over. Might as well replace the breather pipe too.

Moral of the story is: if it's been bodged get it sorted! After all it's only going to fail again otherwise.

The metal pipe is secured to the 2 rear-most fasteners of the cam-cover, might be an idea to remove what you need yourself from a car that's being broken as it'll make more sense so to speak for reassembling?
Glad you got it temporarily sorted.
