2018 SORN list
So how many of us SORN our old Audi's as soon as the dreaded salt start going down? Ive done this since 1998 so thats 20 years now.. This year as previous years I have a list that is longer than expected but it keeps the old Cq in top condition
So the list: 1. Cambelt, waterpump and idler pulley change. (hard to believe its over 5 years since this engine went in) Done 2. Dash clock stopped (my last repair to this was 12 years ago so hope after this year it lasts another 12 years) Done 3. Rear brake pipe corrosion picked up on MOT. (nothing major but better sort whilst its an easy fix) Done 4. Replace the short flexi pipe from the wastgate as during the remap Mark's smoke test detected it was leaking/split. -Done 5. Annual spark plug, rotor arm and disi cap swap (a pain job on this car) -Done 6. passenger seat back tip catch cable snapped, another awkward job and might have to send away if seat has to be un-stitched. 7. All Auxiliary belts Done 8. Uprated alternator (TBD) New earth lead sorted issue 9. Re-waxoyl internal panels (last done many years ago) Done 10. Re-calibrate bargraph voltmeter 11. Sort alarm ultrasonic (stopped Working in May...) 12. (late addition) Rubber Exhaust hangers need replacing Done At the same time I have a wet room to install in our house....

That's some list Dave!
I'm hoping to put my CQ on the road for winter but not before the replacement rear subframe is fitted. |

Mine went on SORN today.
Had a good list of work planned for the winter, overhaul fuel system, turbo, and everything else that side of the engine bay. Also planned to clean, paint and re-bush all 4 corners. However, about to move house so it'll be more like New bathroom (start from scratch incl. digging up the floor), plaster & decorate lounge & 2 bedrooms. Anything else the missus can find me to do to keep me out of the garage!! Roll on spring!! Good luck with your winter work, hope all goes smoothly.

Mine's on SORN, but for different reasons
quattro. Cos I'm not in the country much, and the MOT expired V8. needs some work, but otherwise, as above. otherwise, I'd be out using them

Out of interest, What manufacturer do you all use for the idler pulley and water pump? Has to last reliably for the next 5 years and withstand the 7000rpm it gets on a regular basis . Found a supplier for SKF that are top range for bearings but are they as good with water pumps?
