Hi Mark,

Engine code is ABK. My code reader is showing a code of 00513 (Engine speed sensor-G28-Signal Malfunction). Spoke to Jason at All German Parts yesterday and they don't have one listed for the car! I had a look at the car and I can't actually locate the sensor where I would expect to find it
I should clarify that the car is running fine but the old chap who owns it has had a few running issues recently which is why he asked me to have a look at it to give him peace of mind.

Is the car cutting out Royston? Just double checked with vagcat, there is no sensor listed for the ABK - it may get the engine speed from the distributor (hall sender) in which case it may have a similar issue my 90 had a few months ago...

Yes I believe one of the problems was the car cutting out but it is currently behaving it's self. What issues did you have with your 90?

Well, it had an issue where it would hesitate, go to cut out, thought it was bad leads and it did get better when i changed them. Then a few months later it would start and cut out within about 10 yards, even with revs applied, then drive all day fine. Then eventually one day it flat refused to start. Obv no ecu on the 90 so had to do manual checks on coil, leads plugs, TCI switch and was left with the hall sender. Dizzy out job and a bit fiddly but had input from a mechanic friend who helped get the timing back right etc.

Yes I remember reading the thread now, sounded like proper mither! I'll keep my fingers crossed that it behaves.
