Martin Winterkorn is gone... Matthias Müller (Porsche) is now at the helm... Müller happens to be a friend of Ferdinand Piëch... Remember, the guy Winterkorn kicked out in April...

I smell a re-run of Dynasty...

Update... It seems VW denies Winterkorn exit... The plot thickens.

Update... Ok, he's gone now but his successor is unknown until Friday...

On the money there Sir... It has degenerated into internal and external politics... And when you get Governance battles the long term loser is the humble customer... So hold tight...

from what I've heard on the radio, a number of other companies (and these days none of them are 'small') have the 'same software'......
So a generic software written by some company and sold to all the manufacturers??
We guarantee that with our software your product can pass the tests ??
VAG may just happen to be the first to be caught with their proverbial pants down ??
Piech was effectively backed into a corner earlier this year and I think I read an editorial somewhere that said word to the effect - do not write Piech off yet !
So, perhaps he tipped off the EPA in the US ?? Cor it could be better than Dallas ...

They have been very naughty,i can't quite believe it tbh, but VW will ride tall once again! It rose from far worse ashes than current, those of the WW2 kind a certain Lieutenant Ivan Hurst of the British Army at the behest of the British Government to help get VW back on it's feet after the mess it was left in.Britain had to be seen to do some good after flattening the place to give the German people some hope after the war. And so friends,it will rise again as it did before because we Brits love our German cars.

They have been very, very naughty. It seems it was discovered some 18 months ago and VW tried to hide it:

Quote:
There followed months of fencing by Volkswagen who insisted on repeating the tests themselves and claimed that the figures were the result of minor discrepancy software error which could be fixed easily with a recall.
It wasn't until the EPA and the CARB threatened to withhold certification for its 2016 diesel models that Volkswagen admitted its wrongdoing in early September.

I doubt VW are the only manufacturers to be doing these kinds of things judging by the amounts of shyte being pumped out by every single vauxhall vivaro van ive ever followed...mega stinking smokers every one of em!

The thing that pissed me off on a report yesterday was how they described one of the "polltants" that were being emitted as being carbon dioxide, aka plant food, goddam any chance they get to spin the old climate garbage. Dicks.

As for us classic owners I think thatll probably be the death knell for parts for us now.
