Type 85 Headlights
No surprise, my reflectors are brown. Headlights themselves are OK, but a full unit might also be of interest!
If anyone has good spares please let me know, or if anyone has had them successfully re-coated I'd be grateful for the name of the firm that did them. cheers! EDIT-now sorted. Thanks for suggestions. Last edited by BackintheFold; 28-02-19 at 09:22 AM. |

Get them resilvered, will cost a couple of hundred quid or so.
There is probably no other option. Had a set done at dual-metallising. Very good service. |

I'm taking my reflectors to be done just before Christmas, will get them back around 10 January (the firm closes down over the holidays). A normal turnaround time would be a week at the platers from drop off to collection.
Anyone want to get some done with me? Cost should come down if there are more to do at once. The reflectors have to be provided "clean", as their preparation work does not include (for example) removing glued on pieces of tin foil. If there are bumps/pitting, they can still be re-silvered but the finish will (clearly!)not be as mirror smooth. Shouldn't make a difference to the light output on the ur anyway. I'm expecting cost to be around £45 if its just me having one reflector done. If there are more that should come down a bit. Cost will be plus postage, or can be dropped off/collected from me in Watford or Uxbridge. I expect to be taking 5 at the moment. More info to follow when I know more, so i'm just gauging interest for now. |

I've been quoted £75-£100 per pair of reflectors, so £150-200 for both headlights. Would grouping together make it cheaper than this? Thanks

£150 for all four sounds very good value-I doubt i could get it done for less than that, but I'll let you know.
£200 for four is more than I am expecting. 150-200 is pretty much the range for this action I'd say. |

I had some reflectors for my other car done at "Dual Metallising" in Bromsgrove, which came out very well. They were doing some quattro ones at the time, either from here or the club forum.
