Default Holiday North Uist

I am on holiday on North Uist, went down a road with potholes and cracked the alloy sump on the Tdi Golf, sump repaired with gaffer tape to get back to the cottage, going to buy spanner set today to drain oil from sump and repair with what ever glue or sealant I can get on the island and more oil, new alloy sump on order from Ebay £19.80. isn't it good to get away, even better to get back, maybe!!!

Gaffer tape got me to the local garage, I have a 19mm spanner on loan for garage to remove the sump plug, they had Super Steel epoxy weld 2 part glue mix in stock, sump plug removed and oil in kitchen sink basin, I have cleaned the area with nail varnish remover but having problems getting the crack in the sump to stop oozing oil, anyway epoxy weld is next and 2 hours to dry time, will keep you informed.

Hi gents, all is well, Golf sump now holding oil, test drive last night went well but still need to look every day below car, spare 5lt of oil in Golf boot just in case.

Sink basin all cleaned out, the next occupier of the cottage will never know their was 5lt of diesel engine oil in it.

John, the nail varnish remover is back with the receptionist or as they call her on the island
Tyre Fitter.

Photo below of fix-it.
