Happy days indeed, now to sort the drivers electric window. At least the weather has got warmer which makes life a lot easier.

Just so loving that. Fantastic.

And the Audi ‘C’ badge is just marvellous.

So original it aches. (Mind, the boot lid rings might like to fall off one night).

Seriously Frank, I’ve just been spending some time properly studying the photos and that is probably the most original first year GT’s I’ve seen. The mid swage line pinstripes are extra, but the shut lines are just impeccable, as is the quality of the chrome and trim pieces.

That, from the photos, looks very desirable.

Thank you for all your kind comments , compared to some of the projects I have seen on our CA Forum, this car has ( so far ) been relatively easy but having said that with older cars its always a bit of a "hold your breath " time in the early days, particularly as she has been off the road for such a long time.

In the next few days the original wheels will go back on, they are quite presentable and now have good tyres fitted. I had only put the Estoril wheels on for the MOT as earlier on the tyres were far better on them but now the cookie cutters are well shod.

Agree with Isimmos' earlier comment about the "extra" trim piece along the cars flanks. Personally, I'd rather it was not there but its very firmly attached and I really don't want to try and remove it only to be left with the need for a load of re-spraying.

I spent an enjoyable time using my finger nail to gently go along the edge of the coach lines as at some time someone had polished the car ( probably before it was put up for sale) and there was a fine line of white dried polish along most of the trim lines . Amazing how cleaning that off improved the appearance. The upper line I'm sure should be red , but has faded over the past 40 years. I'm thinking of having that re-done by a coach line type painter as again I doubt I'll ever be able to get those coach lines in their original style . The lower thicker dark brown line is much more intact/unfaded and I will have a think about how to proceed with that detail.

Under the bonnet , there is a small amount of surface corrosion and again in the future, may get that treated/sprayed, but only the underneath as the top is excellent.

Although the MOT test station/garage is only a few miles from where I live, when I arrived they were not quite ready , so I used the "waiting " time to take the car for a drive ( the long way around to the MOT test station ) Car is very comfortable and drives well, the 3 speed auto gearbox seems to be changing very smoothly and car pulls well for a carb engined version. No pocket rocket , but a refined old lady who still has bags of class about her.

The cars rev counter is not working, but as and when I have a bit more time from doing other bits and bobs, I am hoping that the re-seating and cleaning up of the contacts on the multi-plug on the back of the instrument cluster may sort that issue. We will see.

Now I'll leave everyone in peace for bit, but thank you to my good friends on here not only for the encouragement but also great advice on the new project.
Incidentally, I'm calling her , as she is definitely a "she" in my eyes at least, Betty, after my late Mum.

Cheers everyone , safe and happy motoring to you all.
