The Gambia: Re-visited!
Apologies to all for not coming back to you with some more details and pictures. I have now posted a few more which were not included in our blog. I'd also like to thank Coxy for his generous donation.
We really had a brilliant time of it and Phoebe (our Audi 100...) was fantastic. Yes, she had a few problems: 1. The heater matrix gave up so we cut the pipes to keep the water in the engine! 2. The coil packed up just 3kms from our hotel in Marrakesh, but, to be fair to her, it was a Japanese coil (fitted by a previous owner) and was probably for a Toyota! 3. The front shock absorber piston came up through the strut mounting and was held from going any further by the bonnet. Other than that, she was perfect. In fact, I shall be doing the run again in 3 years and am already looking out for a 100/A6 Avant quattro, so if any of you know of one going begging or hear of one in the near future, please let me know... In fact, is there enough interest amongst Classic Audi members to put together a few teams and do the run? I'll leave you all with that thought. In the mean time, enjoy the photos and don't forget to read our blog if you haven't already. We'll be adding some more footage including video, so you can see us in action! Be sure to check back at http://www.teamdesertrats.blogspot.com See you soon... |
