Sorry to bomb this thread but the infamous Greg Edwards on Mi Soul at 1pm today.

People of a certain age can say " kids, this was the man in the 70's & 80's we used to listen to "

http://mi-soul.com/#section-custom-content

Off to get the rear bumper off the Fiesta

oh and from 78 the man himself on Capital, recorded on cassette, explain them to the kids.

Davids post of Gil Scott Herons 'The Bottle' earlier this weekend got me thinking of the other two brilliant floor filling versions of the track that were doing the rounds in the mid 70s

Remember the 2nd version well, in fact the kids seem to think I still dance like that now.

Continuing the 70's theme

Default All Platinum 'Soul Peeper' records

The Philips All Platinum 'Soul Peeper' record label was responsible for numerous delightful soul numbers in the mid 70s, many of which I spent my hard earned teenage pocket money on. Back then I used to like to think the first one was a bit of a theme tune of mine

Some of those take me back to my apprenticeship days on British Rail, first year sent in Swindon 1975/76 and college for 3 years in Bristol on block release. Some of the best years of my life so far, spent all my little apprentice money on bikes, cars, girls and clubs, wasted and frittered all the rest away, and best mates ever. ( Thanks to George best for the quote )

Swindon was Brunel Rooms and then in later years a small club in Swindon called Sax ( I think )

I'm sure this was played a lot.

and a few more from that era,

still a killer cut

30 or so uf us lads lived in a hostel in Swindon for a year, sept 75 to Aug 76, yep thru the hottest best summer to date.
TOTP was a must, 20 to 30 of us watching the TV before hitting the town in high waisters, tank tops, platform shoes and some of the dodgest mullets seen to man.
Have to photos, looking back, what were we thinking

This was a TOTP fav sign along, all the TV full of lads.

Yeah what were you thinking, hipsters and platform shoes. I can understand your kids now. Me being 7 years younger,we still had tank tops in 81/82 but by 83 it was a no .

I guess 74,75 and 76 are special for you as 81,82 and 83 are special for me. I think music changed massively in that time and it would be fair today to say that some of the stuff from 82/83 still sounds like it could have been made today.

Do you remember these?

By the way i think we need to see a picky of you in your 70's dress. please.
