80 Sport seat cloth

I am after the cloth cover for a 1986 80 Sport drivers side Recaro seat. Do these covers just come off the seat to be replaced?

Or will i need to retrim the seat? Someone told me to try Audi for a seat cover and they said they might have one kicking about in a warehouse somewhere...

I am planning on getting the drivers side seat retrimmed, but I know they will not be able to match the exact trim pattern, but I suppose its better than having a ripped up seat.

Any ideas from the forum?

use cloth off the seat backs, and get that replaced with something like vinyl.

Mine are shot on the bolsters as well.

Good thought, but I think by that time Audi had already gone for vinyl backs, so unlike the early ones there is no cloth to be had. Bottom of rear seat is a possibility, but even those went vinyl along the way. V.unlikely there will be any late serII cloth about, but if a roll is found I'm sure plenty of takers on here: incl me
