Default any magneto experts on here? grrr..

- customer's giant flail mower + years in storage = no spark.

- giant flail mower + new coil/magneto + new condenser + new spark plug + flywheel magnets that are still magnetic + points that work = still no spark....

- no gap adjustment possible between flywheel magnets and magneto/coil.

- points gap..hmmm.. dunno just about to look it up.

- have cleaned/filed every possible earth/contact clean of corrosion, back to clean metal, apart from cylinder head bolts, just about to do that. (alloy head, iron block) but it won't even spark onto the block so that won't make any difference anyway..

thanks for any ideas!

Is there a start/stop or inhibitor switch on this thing? Could be stuck?

Is the keyway on the flywheel/crank still in 1 piece?

Im no expert but used to mess about with tecumseh mower engines on a go kart when i was a kid.

Might be worth checking if havent already.

thanks! more to look for in the future.

there is a kill switch on the points 'cover', shorts the primary circuit out.

got the problem! thank fffff... magneto and double horseshoe thing are mounted on an alloy plate, which i thought was bolted to the block, i had cleaned all the mating surfaces/threads/bolts etc. for a good earth.

it turns out it wasn't mounted to the block.. it was mounted to yet another huge alloy plate and it was bolted to the block.. ! took that plate off, cleaned it up and she's running sweet!

customer's £50 ebay flail mower + a couple of hunded quid to me in parts and time = a four grand flail mower for £250!

and the dude has tons of them for me to fix.. nice!

i should do them myself and sell them..
