Thumbs up Haynes Manual differences

Hi, Im trying to buy a Haynes Manual for a Type 44 Audi 100 on Ebay. THere are several available but my question is this - there are 2 different Haynes manual types for the Audi 100 Type 44, one is a "Owners Workshop Manual" and the other is a "Service and Repair manual". I was wondering whats the difference between them and is one more desirable / informative than the other?

Hope someone can clarify this for me. Thanks.
Barry

Hi Barry,

Generally the 'service & repair' manuals are less comprehensive than the workshop manuals, but I admit in this specific case I don't know. One piece of info that might be useful to you is that the workshop manual for the typ44 100\200 doesn't cover the quattro models ... meaning I have to make it up (or consult the CA forum!) for quattro issues.

Hope that helps
Tom

Can't comment on the type 44, but for the B3...

I prefer the layout of the older style Haynes manuals - they usually have a black and white cross-sectional drawing on the front (workshop manual), rather than the coloured in cars (service and repair manual).

I have one of each for the B3, the newer ones seem dumbed down and most importantly to me the older ones used thicker better quality paper for the pages!
