Default B4 Coupe rear seats

Hi can anyone explain how to get the rear seats out of a coupe please, I've got the bench part out but can't see how the backs come out?

Tilt the small seat forward and look at the hinge. You'll see a long plastic trim that should come out, it should slide or pull out. Behind that there are two large posi drive screws that separate the seats. You'll need a very big and long screwdriver with the correct size head as they're tight. Don't round them off using the wrong tools!!

The alternative method is to use a chopped down allen key between the bolsters but it takes ages doing a small turn at a time. You need to know where the bolts are first so this method is probably for those more familiar with the set up but it's more of a last resort.

That's great thanks,
are they the long black strips up the sides of the seat backs?

Hiya mate
As was said by DETROITPISTON drop the small half and then slide the plastic cover up the bracket until it comes off, then remove the two bolts, when they are out drop the bigger seat back flat, then lift the small seat back a bit leaving the bracket down then lift the side of it above the other seat back andpull it sideways and it should be off you will then see the small bracket at the other side is still attached. Same thing for the bigger seat back coming out.
It will be easier if you take the shoulder bolsters out first though, so for those drop the seat backs and remove the big pins the backs latch on to, push the bolsters down to unhook them and they are out
It is easy i promise

Yes they are the covers you slide up to remove

The bolts are hidden behind them !

Yes, they run along the side of the seats and cover most of the metal hinge.
The two large screws are behind them.
Once you've got one seat out access is much easier.
