Father of my mother kept driving until he got brain cancer and got too weak to drive - so essentially until last few months of his life, he died 84 years old - my other grandfather just gave up driving - his 89 and he'll have to renew his medical check this summer he's apparently unlikely to pass, besides, he barely used the car anyway. So he gave his Typ19 Jetta to me, I collected it few days ago, I guess I should wash it [it has collected a lot of dirt during long stays over the years], inspect and try to sell it, as I don't have space and need for 3 cars...

This is the recorded mileage, in kilometres, of course, of his Jetta at annual technical inspection, just to show how much did he used it...

Old-gittedness is a mental attitude which can actually present at any age, and the onset of it should be guarded against. I do believe that speed control is a side effect; a casualty of the mindset that they are the only people on the road, and sod anyone else. Blinkered.

My brother is one, and he's younger than simmo.*

*maybe not such a good benchmark...

Bo11ocks to you to....

In all seriousness though, you are right, it is a mindset.... I find a great cure is to equalise first on the younger generation... This usually involves some general hooliganism aimed at our two daughters...
