Might be worth visiting the tank, pump and filters for a nospot...? If all looks good, fantastic.... But it might just save your bacon checking...

nospot?

Nospot.... = have a look....

One of the old Gents I worked with always said looking costs nothing... ( although that's changed in this digital age)...

Haha I like it. I had the ignition on but didn't register the fuel pump coin on. But wasn't listen for it.

The fuel pump will only run and prime then stop once system pressurised, if wired correctly. it might be as simple as a blocked filter thats causing that. Find the + and - of the fuel pump and see if it runs if powered independently....

So I checked today and the fuel pump primed, I disconnected the starter motor first as I want turn it over by hand once the diesel and penetrating fluid mix has set in over night.

If it turns by hand I will attempt to fire her up providing the old belt has no splits I don't want to run it long but before I do the belt I'd like to know if she will run.

I will also remove the PAS and alternater belt if they don't spin freely.

Also with the ignition on the fuel gauge doesn't move! I hope this is because it's empty!!!

So she turns over by hand with the only resistance being from the alternator belt!! Couple of questions!

1. Regarding draining the fuel, what's the easiest method?

2. Is there any benefit in dropping a couple of decent magnets into the tank to attract any metallic rot that may have developed?

3. I'm hoping to turn her over properly at the weekend prior to a cambelt change what would you do? I've cleaned the belt both sides best I can. I'm itching to know if she'll run before I spend money on parts!!!!
