Default 200 Avant Rear Light Removal?

Hi All

Mid restoration on my 1988 AQT, found some rust around the rear license plate lights and it would be much better to deal with if we remove the light cluster. It's almost perfect, just a tiny crack, but I do worry that removal is fraught with danger!!

Any top tips???

Many thanks - Justin

If it's sealed with the same stuff as Audi used on the B3 rear lights, then a heat gun to soften it will help.

I bet it is John, I've seen it when we took the rear (body attached) lights off & yes I agree, if we do it, we'll use a heat gun - good idea ;-) We just bought one the other day to fix that common 'wibble' in the rear window trim and it's about 90% effective thus far, but we will keep having a go.
