Thanks for that.
Normally when I’m into a car the drive for me is doing something different (or with a story) or the reward is a (relatively) rare car in stand out condition. With the Coupe it’s all stuff that I did on the 90 and it’s not that rare (albeit if I hadn’t literally just finished the 90 I’d be in there) I don’t do bodywork because my OCD is never satisfied by what I can DIY on that front. I’m going to try it here and see if I can generate some enthusiasm on that front. The barrier there is the whole ‘old dog , new tricks’ thing! Last edited by Duffy3074; 12-05-18 at 07:21 AM. |

You say that, but the DIY bumper trick is turning out well, as is the general clean and clay bar. The rear end is already shaping up nicely and thats for minimal / zero outlay and not much time. As for the rest, sounds like you have a good plan in place. I would cap my spend to £600 MAX and the rest labour. I am sure someone will snap it up afterwards for £1600-2000 once all the servicing etc is done. The best thing with a car like this is you will see some major transformations that will be quite satisfying and enjoyable to work on, even without massive outlay. Ok, it will never be a show car, but thats not the end goal this time. Last edited by audi80fan; 12-05-18 at 10:33 AM. |

Thanks.
I’m working on the premise that it’ll be worth no more than £1k if finished. It’s a learning exercise on bodywork, I’ve done stuff upto bumpers before, I’ve worked out a cosmetic bodge for the windscreen that should work (treat the surface rust, paint it and then stick a suitable piece of windscreen rubber across the top) and that just leaves some deep scratches on the drivers door to sort. We’ll see |

Normally yeah but just been there and done that and bought an expensive T shirt, it also delays other stuff in the pipeline slightly.
On the other hand it saves the car and I’m pleased about that. |

That's reason enough if time & finances allow.
