You sure? - it looks like there is a vacuum advance on the distributor, didn't think even the early WRs had vacuum advance... and it doesn't have the water temp sensor and switch on the head water inlet don't quote me on this as i may be wrong Mark Last edited by M4rkp; 27-03-16 at 05:40 AM. |

I was thinking similarly. The air temp sensor appears to be a plug/socket type, but it's in the correct location for a WR.
I wonder if it isn't from a project trying to graft it into another vehicle....

Me Again, the only UR quattro without a water cooling feed to the turbo is the WR but you are correct about the vac advance on the distributor, the engine may be an early Audi 200 turbo
and not a UR quattro engine at all. |

I think Colin is close with the 200 5T engine. When we rebuilt our Ur's engine in 2011 we had 2 spare WR lumps and a 200 T lump. Don't ask me why, but that just doesn't 'look' like a WR installation. (even the downpipe looks square?).

The clue is in the vacuum advance on the distributor, therefore not a WR engine, there is no idler roller on the cam belt so it is a 113 tooth belt, IMO it is a WJ engine from a Type 43 200 Turbo.

It's not a 200 5T (WJ) engine, they did not have a flywheel sensor, throttle position switches or in fact this style of inlet manifold. Shape of the sump is wrong for a 200 lump also.
I agree with Real MSH, it may have been cocked about with for a project of some sort with that distributor etc. Probably a WR block. |
