If not VAGCOM what is it called??
I was told that I need to pulse the ABS unit using a black/white cable and device thingy.
Anyone know what this is called, does it make sense. Yep!! still issues with the brakes on the Type 44 turbo |

Vcds is the new name for vagcom
Cant see it communicating with abs on a t44 myself though as anything prior to 1993 ish has never worked with it (in my experience at least) |

New version is called VCDS and I guess for yours you need the twin plug adapter that I use and need for my 3B engine too.
Best site to get it from here: http://www.gendan.co.uk/product_VAG2X2.html

I just cannot for the life of me get my brakes to work, was told by someone that they had to do this as air was in the ABS pump. EDIT: thats the one, the plug in the picture is what I was told about. Thanks |

If there is air in the ABS pump it can be removed by pressure bleeding the system from the reservoir, clear the master cylinder first then the wheel cylinders following the simple guide of furthest away from the cylinder first, then work forwards towards the master.
To the best of my knowledge there is no available interface between the ABS electronics and any plug in diagnostic on a 200. It is simply to early for this technology, so long as the ABS warning light illuminates with the ignition on and extinguishes when started the ABS electronics are generally happy. Badly set or faulty sensors will result in pedal kick back and a soft/longish pedal as the ABS trys to activate, whereas if there is simply air in the system it needs to be bled to remove it.
