Default 7A engine rebuild

hi guys and gals, after a bit a very unfortunate event off my crankshaft pulley coming loose (i had never touched it since owning the car, so can only assume it wasn't tightened correctly last time it was off) i am in the process off rebuilding my engine. ive got it fully stripped and have ordered most of the parts needed baring the piston rings which are according to Pete at quattro corner are obsolete and all he can get hold off are oversized pistons but there £220 each and thats a bit more than i would like to spend. so i was just wondering if anyone on here knew off somewhere that i could get hold off some rings from?

Any help is much appreciated, Many thanks Alistair

Measure the rings, there are 2 different sizes of 7A 2nd piston rings 1.2 or 1.5, when I got a set of rings for my rebuild they had the wrong size 2nd rings and eventually I managed to get another set from a 10v engine that was 82.5 bore and with the 2 sets made up a full set for my own rebuild.

Check the ring endgaps first, if the bores are worn new rings wont help.

Thanks guys, since I was taking the head to the local engineering shop to have the valve guides pressed in and seats cut and crank polished, I've taken them the pistons and asked if they could source some rings or oversize pistons from there suppliers and check the bores as my bore gauges arnt the best as there's a mark on the power side of the bore where the 1st compression ring sits at tdc. If worst comes to worst I will have to get oversize pistons.
In some ways I'm glad I stripped it as its deffinatly missed some oil changes in its life and was getting rebuilt next winter anyway. It's just come a little sooner unfortunately haha
