Question Jetronic fuel accumulator....

My 1982 audi 200 has a totally mechanical fuel injection system (with the exception of the pump), it won't idle but runs fine when held on the accelerator. There is no Idle SV and I've replaced almost every component except the fuel accumulator. I am suspicious of this component because it smooths out the flow and retains system pressure; when I leave the car and return to it the fuel has returned back down the pipe and it takes a while to start again. Also the car was standing for 15 year and most components were ruined due to the fule turning into a varnish type substance. I thought the accumilator would be aokay as it's quite simple, or is it....????

My other thought is the non Bosch pump - could that be a problem?

Thanks in advance.
