Sticky dust...!
Our air in Sussex is rank, "me thinks" ... Its official... Last weekend I polished and waxed the Ur, over the week its been under the car port, so protected from three sides and under the roof. The car ran out on Wednesday, and today I wiped it off and waxed it again.... The thing is, to wipe it off, the dust was like magnetic glue. I tried 'dusting' with a micro fibre pad, which immediately clogged up and just smeared it about, so I tried a damp cloth and leather, but it just smeared everywhere. Its crap... Even the S2 which is more open to the elements doesn't get as filthy... It's as if the car is positively charged to attract a film of dust. Anyone else know or experience what I mean?

A quick spray over with the hose followed by microfibre cloth should do the trick if it was just dusty, that's if it beads up really well ?
There was some weird Sahara dust in the air this week up here too!! |

The biggest problem we have here is really hard chalky water, and when ithe weather is hot, a quick spray with the hose leaves chalky rings everywhere as it evaporates whilst frantically leathering... A pump spray and leather is probably best but it just leaves it with a milky smear. The car is polished and waxed to death at the moment and beads beautifully... I just think there must be a quicker technique to shifting dust than a full on wash and wax every week. Especially when the car han't moved, or been exposed to rain etc.

I'm not experiencing the sticky mess your talking about just plain bloody dust in the atmosphere all the time.I remember years ago you could wash a car and come out next morning and the car would still be gleaming. Not now, what greats you is a light dusting and if theres been dew in the air overnight it reaks havok when dried. It's the biggest bain in my life!

Interesting thread this.....I wonder if the stickiness is being caused by pollen. From the TV reports, the pollen levels have been VERY high here in the South and obviously ordinary "dust" should be easy to wipe off but add in a touch of pollen and it may be a different story....just take a look at the back of a bees legs!

To be fair though I suspect mine might not be an 'genuine original' despite the wording in the advert. http://www.amazon.co.uk/California-C...nia+car+duster Feedback to that effect will be left once I get my money back

No magic product on the market will stop a small grain of dirt scratching your paint if you drag it across the face of it. |
