it doesn't need to be that tight..... Thats overtightening imo.
A neighbour has a white CQ and has had it from new. He has done 155k in it and changed the cambelt twice so far himself, made his own locking tool and only retightens the bolt to 250nm. Never had any problems

put a question on the quattro forum and see what replys you get it states it in the haynes,bently and on the garage autodata disk if i'm wrong so are all the books.

mine that tight so i can sleep at night knowing that my bolt won't come out.

I've got to admit I'm a little confused - whats the conclusion then?

Audi say its 280 nm which my mechanic has regurgitated to me. Do I need to be loooking for a different tool? I may have to go for a nose though the Haynes Manual I just acquired....

page 31 haynes says "Crankshaft gear bolt (useing tool 2079) ............................350nm


bentley also say's 350nm but if you don't have the corrcet tool it 450nm.

for read a book then give it to your spannerman and while your at it go to audi and tell there talking sh#t then shove the book up there nose and learn

its 450 nm on the UR turbo and 350 nm on the coupe non turbo.I am surprised that the 10v turbo is that tight as it couldn't pull its self out off bed LMFAO
