Default later brakes on a type 85

i used to be into mk1 golfs and we used to use the 5cyl brakes of a type 85 to "upgrade " to 256mm, we used to use mk2 golf 16v discs to get around the studd patern.
this was a thing of the past as nowadays you can buy a pair of adaptors to convert from the narrow 2 bolt fitment carriers( 5cyl audis with one piece legs and mk1 golf platform cars)
to the larger 2bolt fitment carriers( mk2 golf platform cars inc g60 and later audis with 2 pice legs s2 etc)

if you think about it this would allow the use of the "g60" 280mm brake setup to be bolted onto the early 5cyl cars without converting to the 2 piece legs
also any of the larger brakes for example, mk3 vr6 was a 288mm disc with larger calipers with these brakets the vr6 setup could be used with the appropriate redrilled discs
you could use the "porsche conversion " setup that people use on the s2 just with redrilled discs

im gonna go down this route as i wanna keep 4 studd wheels

Does this work with a B2 sport?

I am looking to upgrade the front brakes to something a bit more beefy. What calipers discs combination will be a bolt on job for a type 81.

Will 280mm Lucas calipers off a Ibiza turbo be usefull....

I know I sound desperate, but I have found the above caliper brackets for sale, and I have sourced some 280mm calipers. All I need to know is that will this setup work on a B2?

Does the B2 have the same front brake setup as a mk1 golf?

Just go 256mm off a 90 or 5 pot Coupe. I have some in the garage waiting to be fitted.

As Newt said, Golf 16V discs (4x100)

if your stud pattern 4x100 you can use golf discs and audi 80 b3 calipers and cariers as they use 256mm dics as standard

I am on the hunt for some B3 calipers now... will get some mk2 4x100 discs and some B3 pads.

But if the 256mm fit from a B3 then surely the mk2 golf 256mm calipers are the same?
