Default How to open my Sunroof?

The title says it all really. On my newly accquired Coupe GT I cant seem to open the sunroof!
It has a manual winder, but only turns half a turn before it resists and won't go further. There are two loops at the sides which I have tried pulling out & down but with no result.

Am I doing something wrong? or is it simply stuck?

Kev

It's stuck, you pull those pins inwards to release the sunroof when it is open (so you can remove it)

It should open straight off the winder, wind clockwise to lift, anti to close... there will be some resistance as the winder takes the weight of the sunroof, but nothing too major.

The two loops are for removing the sunroof fully, there's nothing to gain in touching them until the sunroof is open...

Incidentally, as a sunroof, you're not expecting it to open fully into the roof are you...?

These are more 'gun-turrets' than sunroofs, they only open about 50mm as a vent, sat in the car with the handle... They do not wind back into the roof... (they are a bit of a joke really, compared to most cars)...

Once open '50mm' tilt'...

Pull the two loops from inside and push the sunroof up about another 10mm, then, get out of the car, and pull the whole sunroof backwards and then up. This will release it..

It's kept in the boot, on the underside of the metal firewall/parcel shelf... There will be two brackets for it to sit... Painted side down please, it's got felt on it to prevent scratches.

Fitting it reveral, but just push down the roof until the two locking pins (attached to the loops) clicks home, then lower the sunroof back into the apeture...

Sounds like its stuck to me!!!....As you turn the winder get someone to push the roof up at the back at the same time. It might free off and open. The rings are to remove the roof altogether..If you get it open, pull the rings inwards and the roof panel will lift out.....Storage tray for that is in the boot....If you manage to get it out lubricate all the bits that look like they need lubricating and that might do the trick!!...Good luck

See my project thread to see the mechanism and how it lifts out.... You may find alot of rust and broken tabs so be careful otherwise you'll find it wont seal again without swapping the necessary parts.
