new addition in the family
First things first, my folks are volvo nuts, in much the same way as im into audis. Helped my dad pick this up yesterday from central london, and I drove it back down to their place in cornwall. It drove ok, few problems - very weird handling, maybe suspension bushes knackered and brakes a bit spongy. But it made it down without the need for a recovery truck! Bodywork needs tarting up, there is lots of broken trim, 2 small bits of rust - a nice project for my dad. He has had a 480es and a turbo in the past, but this is a special edition gt - only 200 were built, so hes well chuffed! The wheels are unique to the gt, quite like them for some reason. These cars are like marmite, you either love them or hate them.

It takes all sorts ...if we were all the same wouldn't it be a boring World?
Not for me , but respect that your Dad is happy which is all that matters. The trouble is once your an Audi "nut" , nothing else will do....unless perhaps its a VeeDub or Porsche. Best wishes to your Dad, maybe I'll meet up with him one of these days eh? |

Different so
A friend and fellow CA driver had one, he'll maybe pitch in ?! I'd like a 240 estate just because it epitomizes an old estate car.......but no room for one. |

Nice colour, looks tidy
My Dad had an ES from new, but was plagued with electrical/computer problems over the year he had it, Volvo eventually gave him a new 440 as a replacement. I reckon the 480 will become quite collectable in time.

Yeah the 480's are at rock bottom prices. The turbos are being brought up to engine swap with clios, so their getting scarce. My dad definitely sees this as a future classic and as an investment.
Flying frank - ive already suggested he meets 2 coupe quattros at lerryn!

I have always liked these, right since they were new in the late 80's, so it gets my vote
