well that's an option for the front then, but I'd like to have the double bolt pattern so it's always an option to swap back to 4x108.

Well that was the plan for the front, drilling the old hubs. but it gives me more options. also depends how much drilling costs. the passat hubs are £18 each.
The easiest way I can see having both stud patterns is to drill the front hubs and have adapters on the rear.

This might be a bit out of left field, but is there any chance that pattern replacement hubs on the rear are flat? Say, if Topran made some?

Good call that. That might be the case to lower production costs.

or presumably in that case the scallop areas could be filled in with weld to enable a new threaded hole to be positioned - leaving you with both the 108 and 100 pcd.

If its any use my Typ81 80 is 4x100, and the hub flange/drive flanges are readily available, not sure about your bearing id if they would press in?? or the splines on the CV.

I think the only (or the only one I have found) pattern part hub is made by febi, and its an exact recreation and has scalloped areas too.

I've been trying to get hold of engineering firms to see what their professional opinion would be. But as of yet I haven't found one that would reply to my emails.
I guess persistence pays off though.

IIRC type 81 hubs are the same as a B2 passat, if both 4x100. And should both fit into type 85 front carriers and match the outer cv spline. Its just finding a replacement for the rears that is tricky.

Default An Update

Just took the hubs to an engineering firm and they seem to think its possible to customise them.
I'll know the results in a week or so.
