Default Under bonnet pics of Coupe quattro

I've had several discussions recently about the layout of the KV under-bonnet pipework...

These pics are from ours, a (as far as I'm aware) standard layout 86 KV....

General view

Air flow meter area

Cold start area

Distributor

Battery to block view

Under the Air flow meter area

Hope this helps any interested parties...

Ian

You want to disconnect the fuel cut off valve on the rear of the airbox ( thick brown wire ), you already have, then your exhaust will come into it's own.

Nope, all's still connected as normal... What, pray, goes on after disconnection?

The fuel cut off valve works on negative pressure. When you lift the throttle the butterflies close in the throttle body causing the tick over switch to close to tell the car not to fuel. The resulting pressure build up in the airbox causes the fuel cut off switch to activate, effectively cutting off the fuel. Now, disconnect it and it keeps on fueling even when you lift off. Result.....some spectacular pops and bangs from the unburnt fuel going down the , now, already larger exhaust system. Sounds really good. Uses more fuel but sounds good.

I'll give it a whirl... Might burn out some of the rats nests in the system...

Issimo - where did you get those lovely Magnecor HT Leads from? I noticed the 5th one on mine, doesn't fit very snugly on the sparkplug anymore and I think it keeps coming loose, messing up the timing? I know Pete Reeve supplies them at quattro corner, but there £75 and was wondering whether there might be a cheaper souce?

Thanks and what a lovely engine!!

Alas, they too came from Pete Reeve... The previous owner fitted them, at first I wasn't too sure about them, but they've been fine.

Pull the wire out of the end( carefully ) and re-crimp the bit that grips the top of the spark plug. Should work they are all only ever crimped anyway.

How comes? I thought the Magnecor leads were meant to be excellent quality?
