Default UR quattro computer

Hi all,
Does anyone know if it is possible to get the computers/voicebox repaired or replaced. If so what's the cost out of curiosity? Been offered an '85 quattro and this is one of the many things which needs to be sorted.

Cheers
Chris

Have a look here:

http://www.isham-research.co.uk/quattro/wr_voice.html

Apparently it is not a "nice to have" , it is the warning system too.

Be very careful, the "voice" autocheck if disconnected can hide a multitude of sins. Either insist that you hear it before you buy or negotiate very hard. Does the warning triangle illuminate on the dash ?

Mine doesn't nag you But as Darren says make sure it works or find out why it doesn't as repairs are costly (300+ IIRC)

Its also the safety warnings that may be hidden, as you will have seen on phil paynes site they monitor braking system, oil, temp etc.

Thanks Darren,
I had read about the importance of the autocheck and understand its function. I am not sure about the warning triangle though. What does this signify? As yet i've not seen the car. Am in the early stages of communicating as the value he is asking for is i(IMO)
2 grand over the top. Probaly the A2A tax that has caused the rise.
Any furhter tips appreciated.

Chris

you normally get an orange warning triangle in the lower left of the dashboard before the spoken warning. It always illuminates when you turn the ignition on and stays on till you have dabbed the brakes. The easiest way to check is to hold the check button on the end of the wiper stalk in when you turn the ignition on, or undo your seat belt when driving !
