Default Speedo

After getting the odometer working i now have another problem in the clocks
No matter what speed you are doing be it 5mph or 80mph the speedo needle is just wafting up and down non stop between 0 and 40 mph, anybody got ideas about what the cause could be please ? It's the V6 Coupe.

Many thanks.

Speed sensor on gearbox??
Remember if you end up changing binnacle, you need to to stay with v6 and probably need to stay auto

So, after playing around in a red hot car i eliminated the gearbox sensor, i did this by putting another set of clocks in the car and the speedo worked perfectly.
I was thinking need new clocks, then i decided to put the other clocks back in just to see what they did, oddly enough the speedo now behaves and is steady, this leads me to think that while putting the clocks back in i somehow managed to disturb the speedo plug (as we all know they can be awkward to get back in sometimes) so now it's wait and see how it goes.
