Default Transverse Gearbox

Does anyone know if there is any FWD transverse gearbox that will fit a 5 pot engine?

Just had a look at a few stud patterns of the Volvo boxes....

All the petrol versions are wrong straight away as the starter hole is on the wrong side.

The diesel box however is on the other side but the bolt pattern still looks way out

Yes Pete, just doing my homework.

Out of interest what engine you going to use?

how about an adapter plate and is the engine going in the back or front?

I know of a s2forum member with a polo with a audi v8 in the rear already so if he can get that behind the seats then something can be done (think he's got that car up for sale)

Not 100% decided but it must be 4x4.
And it must be rear engined....

thats going to be interesting to find a rear mounted box for it then.

porsche?
skoda I think dabbled with rear mounted 4x4 boxes at one point.

probably adapter plates needed to make this work on those boxes tho with custom clutch/flywheel.

not tempted by rwd then?

Actually toying with the idea of mid mounted transverse 20vt.

There is only 15" to play with from the centre of the rear wheel to inside the tailgate.

Another option is xr4x4 v6 as the engine and box is a very similar lay out to how the goodmans V6 was.
