Suspension overhaul / upgrade
Right, the suspension on my 1990 Audi 100 quattro avant needs some TLC and money spending on it.
I have bought the bushes for the rear suspension. I also have a set of 4 struts which consist of Weitec springs and shock absorbers off an identical car (the price for all 4 was cheaper than a pair of replacement front shocks – one of mine is leaking). I also want to get the front suspension bushes done too, as I do enjoy driving the car. What else shall I get replaced while these are being done? I reckon: 443412377 Shock/Strut Mount; Front Upper Left/Right with Bushing 431412249D strut mount bearing Rear top mounts???? Front sub frame mounts? Front anti roll bar bushes? How is the rear subframe held on? I just want to get all the parts together then give it to my local garage and let them get on with it. Cheers Steve |

Your bump stops would need to be cut down anyway as you're lowing it (?) otherwise it'll be sat on them and be crashy as foooook
As it's a Q, front and rear top mounts and bearings are a good idea (they're the same front & rear anyway {or at least were on the 90 Q i did the other week}) as they ware out randomly. TBH I'd be tempted (I was lol) to buy the complete 'bushed' wishbones and new b.b/j's. GSF can get good quality units pretty cheap and it's a load less hastle! Subframe mounts are 'usally' ok, dipendent on oil contamiation of cause. Rear subframe is held in by 4 (I think...) bushies, and billit Alloy replacements are avalible the engine mounts take some right hammer on these longitudinally mounted engines and imo are of a piss poor design. well worth changing them while it's in the garage

I just did the front antiroll bar mounts and bushes on a 1989A80quattro and that made quite a difference-corners flatter and more direct now. tried gsf for the bushes etc, but seems they're cutting out a lot of audi parts from their inventory-certainly for my car. I took a long long list of stuff they used to have in their catalog & came away with absolutely nothing. coupla bits out of stock, but mostly NLA. Had to go to audi, altho cost not as bad as expected. let us know if you find any decent suppliers for bits & how you get on
