I used the afore mentioned foil tape. Results can be seen at the bottom of this page.
http://www.classic-audi.co.uk/forum/...=revamp&page=4 Can be picked up at plumbers merchants and plenty on Ebay. There always seems to be a roll or 2 left in boiler rooms after the laggers have been in. So I often drop one in my tool box , doesn't get much cheaper than that!

Maybe I should have said "Cold worked" instead. All the same, generally hot dip galvanising will soften steel items, depending on a number of different factors. That's why it's not normally performed on automotive parts.

There's a few galvanized sub-frames out there now, haven't heard of any problem yet.
I did think of just getting it powder coated but form a longevity point, I went this route. Will see how it goes. John. |
