That's Jimmy McRae in the Cossie ( interior shot ) nursing a front puncture when Llewellin goes steaming past. Still shifting though! Cracking year was 87 even though power was capped at 300bhp.

Alledgedly 300bhp! I know a bloke who used to work on Mark Lovell's Cossie in '87 and if my memory serves me right, there was no restrictor in the turbo-that came later-so power was basically unlimited. There were rumours of 500bhp in the Sierras! I ran a Sapphire Cosworth for a year at clubman level and 300bhp in a rear wheel drive car was enough. The engine blocks were so stressed in 87 due to the power output, they were scrapped after each rally.

I.m proud to say it was me who built and mechanic’d on Sebastian Lindholms’ car in that race. He really was a nice guy, always came to Suttons place a few days early got some overalls on and got stuck in with the prep. Deserved to do better but couldn’t get the backing and funding that the mainstream drivers commanded.

Interesting stuff - could you hazard a guess at how many bhp the CQ was putting out? It can't be anywhere near 300bhp, can it?!
