Measuring current draw urQuattro fuel pump
The urQ blew its fuel pump fuse last week. I suspect a clogged fuel filter and I'm getting a new one fitted tomorrow, but I want to measure the current draw through the pump before I swap the filter, then again afterwards (to check that the filter is the culprit).
Where is best / easiest to break into the fuel pump circuit? |

Under the rear seat.
(Is one answer) Just adjacent to the battery is a single pole connector which supplies the pump. The wire goes through the floor just near there. Of course, directly across the fuse terminals in the fuse box is also valid. Just be sure to have a suitable rating fused multi-meter. While you're at it- I converted mine ages ago, to have a slave relay closer to the pump. The original supply wire controls the relay. The relay switches a fused supply direct from the battery which is now only inches away. Takes about 15 minutes to do. Check the quality of the pump connections, too. Mine was pretty ropey.

Thanks Hanuman –*just what I needed. Have now measured at the fuse box (it's raining and I didn't want to the rear seat squab out into the wet) and it's drawing 12.65 +/- one or two milliamps. This seems a bit high –*isn't it supposed to pull about 8 amps?
