typ81 shockers

Hi guys and gals, just wondering anyone on hear would know if the front and rear shocks off a mk1 golf would fit on my typ81 saloon, and also the front hubs. reason behind my thinking is the top mounts appear to be the same or very similar, if this was the case i was hoping to fit a coilover kit for the mk1 to allow me to get the right hight im after, any info or help greatly recieved.
