Default gear nob thread size

can anyone tell me the thread size for the gear nob in my face lift 1985 80, is by any chance the same as a mk1 or mk2 golf? really need to know asap chairs

its usually tapered thread so almost any one should fit

im ordering an orange number 13 pool ball gear nob and he needs to know thread size, diameter etc or he has a list of mk1 golf mk2 golf etc i was wondering if i told him it was for a mk1 golf itd fit mine

Yo dandan,well they're all the same across the B2 80 range, whether quattro, Sport coupe. Not too up on the threads, but it's going to be a UNC. The top of the stick would need a 12mm diameter thread I should think, but if he's got a GTi one & can compare it. If it's within a knats of this then I'd say they were the same. Cheers.

I know b3 80 gear stick is the same thread as mk2 golf as the gear knob in mine is from trimsport that
do alloy inteirer bits for golfs

I fitted an 8 ball to my mk2 golf, all I did was purchase an 8 ball from ebay for about £2 delivered, then drill a hole into the ball and keep on changing the bits making the hole bigger etc, but not too big because you want to smash the 8 ball onto the shaft.

Then I put a plank of wood over the 8 ball and hammered it onto the shaft. The 8 ball never came off and looked like a fantastic mod for £2!! If you make your hole too big then use some super strenght adhesive like windscreen mastic or something to glue that down securely.

LOL whack the top of the gear stick with a hammer?? any thought as to the linkage and if you'd damage it?
