go for it like a shot.

As you know, my 80CL seats aren't worn, 80 Sport seats ALL wear on the bolsters........

I once saw an upholsterer that was selling leather seat cover sets for the BMW E30. When I say "seat covers" I mean he would strip your seats and install them, and they looked factory. The 'pre-fab' nature of them meant they were cheaper than a bespoke retrim.

It gave me an idea. The solution to totally unobtainable 80s Audi cloth is to commission the manufacture of leather seat cover sets for the quattro/Coupe/Sport Type 85s which share the rear seat configuration and sporty (higher) front side bolsters. These could be pre-made and sold as a set. Clearly they would be made without tilt lever holes so they could be installed in Coupes (cut tilt lever slots wen installing) or saloons. If they were done in a factory style it would look original. ISTR my old leather-interior WR quattro the backs of the front seats, a couple of bits on the rear seats and the door cards were actually vinyl (shock horror - but difficult to tell unless looking very closely at disassembled bits, though bits you sat on were clearly leather, and it smelt of leather). Door cards could be re-trimmed in matching vinyl (or leather if you insist).

Could be a choice of colours to match interiors (black, chocolate brown ???) and made in early style diagonal pleats or later plain version.

Just an idea.
