Loctite kit from halfords, cost about £10 and works perfectly. The sticky pads are rubbish.

I had this problem with the mirror on my beetle and used the Halfords pad without any problems. I used Isopropyl alcohol to clean the screen and the mirror base then warmed the screen and mirror with a hairdryer, apply pressure and it is solid as a rock.

anyone have any ideas how to get a mirror off the screen ? theres a non audi on on the 2 door an its annoying me... but im afraid ill crack the screen...

When the autoglass man took mine off when changing the screen of the 80, he manage to snap the bracket on the mirror, just as bad as breaking the glass almost!
The stalk is hollow metal and is very brittle. I think it's designed so you take yer pick, save the screen or the mirror!

Phoned autoglass last week to stick the back window back into the turbo, £130!! For a tube of fkn glue!?! FFS, I'll get one on ebay. Talked to the guy who is in our town twice every week fixing windscreens smashed by milk tankers and crap roads, so it's not the travelling they're charging for, they're here anyway! Thieves!!
