I may use this interior on the silver machine at some stage in the future. I quite like Silver Paint/Black interior as a combination.
Or I may just sell it, if there's a market for it.

And i need to get at some switches and things on the silver car, so this gives me an opportunity to find out how, without disabling the silver car.
If you get your finger out can have a full leather S6 interior for £200, it'll be going to the crunchers by mid Feb otherwise. In fact, here's an offer, If I take what I want Motor etc, + what I've promised a couple of other folk.. (And that's nothing Major). For £400, you can have the front legs, wheels, tyres, interior etc all neatly packaged in an S6 bodyshell... To be collected of course... Mid/late Feb from West Sussex...

Handbrake.

Seems it's a common complaint- find out how AFTER the fact, then glue it all together.

The grip comes off first. there's a pin that retains it underneath, at the rear, push in, slide off (contrary to what it says in the service manual I have!
Then, the main cover comes off. Although in this case, it didn't have to happen that way.

Glue apparently is a good alternative to doing it properly.

Anyway, all sorted.

Next up- rear seta back rest.

There is nothing in the manual that shows this. I'm suspecting I'll need to pull the liner out of the boot, to access some heretofore unmentioned retaining bolts/screws etc.
However, if anyone has any insight (except Missfire, who's obviously just going to take advantage of someone with very little experience of broken t44s)

It's not really using the manual as such. I just glance at the pretty pictures, for a clue, when the object in front of me appears to have been designed by a sadistic chinaman of the puzzlemaking guild.

Sadly. Audi have seen fit not to supply pretty pictures...

get a haynes manual...

it says in there..

2 screws at front bottom to release seat base cushion

lift it up and out

under there, 'straighten' 2 securing 'tabs'

then with an assistant..one in the boot, one in the car..

push a screwdriver into a hole to release head rests, (while the assistant pulls upwards on the head rest), then do the same with the head rest retainer/slider/plastic things ...with an assistant..and get him/her/sadistic chinaman to pull them out also.

then the seat back will be loose.

No need of a Haynes then. Just need to wait patiently for a passing samaritan...

Doesn't quite have the surgical accuracy or subtlety required, but I can see where you're coming from.*

*mainly a dayout in eastbourne.
Not sure whether the locals are influencing your bad habits, or if this is your social re-engineering type response to the place

Eastbourne is all about Smoking Jackets, Smoking Grannies and Youths Smoking Pot... I suspect 'Smoking Piers' will be added to the list soon too...
