Depending on what you'll use it for, the 10v might be better suited? Definitely better low down torque...…….. but if you want some high RPM action with exhaust noise then 7A will deliver.

Maybe a shame to alter a perfect example?.....but then as you say it'll look factory!

No got the majority of the problems sorted, the idle problem was a faulty idle control unit dropping the current off completely, I've replaced that and it's spot on now. The metering head has a slight imbalance at low throttle settings but is within spec at higher settings so it's as good as it's going to be without a rebuild which I'm not going to do now.

That's the plan, it'll still be, within certain reasonable limits, stuff the factory could have done.
I did think about aftermarket engine management and throttle bodies (as I did with the Cortina) but I want to keep it within the spirit of how it was.

My daughters 6N2 1.4 Polo feels faster, albeit E-Lad sounds mega and it's looks are in a different league. It's purely a toy and I want it to be fun, more top end drama fits in nicely with that.

I just like to fettle and play and I'll probably do that until the day before it gets sold!

Understand completely !

Have you thought about adapting another electronic injection system from another 5-pot motor?....like your old Fiat Coupe......or Volvo?

If I was going to go non OEM I'd go with Emerald M3d again as it's the business but I don't want to stray too far from the beaten track on this one.

I want an OEM look.

You just need to decide on the 2 plug or 4 plug ecu setup.
