Default Changing interior colour

Hi folks,

Mate of mine has a 2018 BMW 4 series with a Coral Red interior

He likes the colour but not that much, prefers black. I said it is possible to paint the dash. The link below shows what his looks like. Fortunately its only the lower half of his dashboard area that would need painting. The door cards could be stained and the seats. I guess the seats could be re-upholstered if need be. From what I've seen, if it is like other cars, he could paint the lower dash himself, using an Acrylic paint, by spray or brush.

What dya think....

I've sprayed the plastic trim in my S2 Avant with special plastic paint and had good results.

Pray tell, tractor Dave, was it Acrylic paint you used? What brand was it?

Wouldn't it be easier to accept the mistaken choice, wait, & change the car in due course?

I'd expect a car of that age - ie nearly new - and therefore worth many Łk would suffer badly in trade in value if modified as discussed.

That's pretty much what I think too.

Cost to re-dye seats & door cards plus the loss of value of a car that age having half the dash painted a different colour (even if professionally done) would be more than selling it and buying one with a black interior I would think.
Got to consider who would buy a car at say 3 years old with a home painted dash, especially when it's not rare so there are plenty to choose from.
Personally, I've yet to see a re-painted dash that isn't all scratched and showing the original colour though after a few years.

He's decided to live with it. I'm sure your comments made him re-think. All's well that ends well......

It's a lovely looking car, so it would be a shame to risk spoiling it. I can see why it's competition for the A5....

Thanks chaps.
