Default 7A and NM engine conversion k

Hi guys I am trying to convert my c1 audi coupe to fit a 7a or nm 5 cylinder engine dose anyone knows what fwd audi gearbox I can use directly on the engine?

5 cylinder 016, any 01A and any 01E should bolt up to an 7A or NM block.

7A would come with an 01A from the factory in a coupe or 90.

Thanks Andy tell me are those all fwd only gearboxes, any four wheel drive boxes? And the 016 and 01e wat audis do they come in and is there a tag on the gearbox or some sort of identification?

You can get quattro and front wheel drive gearboxes.

016 is in older 80/90/100/200, boxy ones, B2, C3 etc. They are not multi bellhousing like the later boxes, 4 cyl and 5 cyl have a different pattern.

01A in B3/B4, 5 speed B5 I think.

01E in 6 speed manual inline S car B4, C4, B5 etc. Also various 6 speed a4/6s.

Yes the gearbox code is on the box.

What year/engine/gearbox etc is your c1?

If you use an 016 you will need to find out what flywheel/clutch to use (there are options, I just cant remember), if you use an 01A or 01E a 7a flywheel will work.

If you already have an 016 that would seem easiest in terms of mounts, shifter linkage, driveshafts etc.
