I would work the other way round, find a grommet in the bulkhead near where the battery is situtated, it will likely already have cabling that goes through to the passenger compartment and there should be one that takes you somewhere underneath the dash, then from there it should be a lot easier to route the cable to the amp.....

Not sure about an 80, I know where it is on a type 85

if your battery is in the same place as my b3 80 at n/s bulk head , there is a rubber gromet under
the battery tray thats were i've run my wire from amp to battery . if you remove the tray under glove box and pull carpet back you my see it (you may have to remove the glove box) hope this is of any help

best to remove glove box and under tray so you can see the wire when you push it through the grommet . if you can get you head in the engine bay and look under battery tray you should see the grommet the 90 may be a bit cramped for space around the battery compaired to the 80 (you can't remove battery tray)
has yours got an RS2 engine fitted

Same as the typ85 then there is a grommet located under the battery tray (you can't remove the tray its welded in!) Then this should come out somewhere down the left hand side of the car in the glovebox area....

Also if you modify any of the grommits make sure you put some mastic around the hole, otherwise it might be wet carpet time in the future....

right, ive taken the glove box out n i can see wer the 2 grommets r but they r so rammed i cant get anythin thru them, plus the fact i got chubby lil fingers n theres the heat ducting running in front of it. there must be an easier way surely? plus i just realised that if i run the that way, the cable will be too short! great! never had this much truble with ma polo, took 20mins to wire that!

Tape the wire to a pen and push it through.
