Just read about the fuel pump relay, surely if this was the problem you would have seen the fuel pressure drop as the car started to run bad?

Honestly I would check that that nothing is blocking the fuel throughout the system. Ive seen a similiar problem on another car that was impossible to diagnose. Engine wouldn't rev properly, would run extremely rich and no one knew what was the problem untill we disconnected the fuel lines and checked the pressure. Was too high. Seemed to be a small filter just before the pressure regulator and a small piece of dirt was caught in that filter and blocking the pressure and it wreaked havoc on the engine.
By reading through other posts.. seems like the biggest suspect is the cold-start system

Well well, the damn thing still hasn't burned to the ground unfortunately.

Took it to a 5 pot specialist garage nearby to let them have a look.
First of all the ''piston'' inside the K-Jet was fooked, that means it must have been the problem on all 3! K-Jets I've tried on the car.
When that was fixed the car ran again, but of course it didn't completely cure the problem.
So a new fuel pump was ordered and fitted, again to no result, what a surprise

After a little more fiddling and diagnosing the fuel tank seems to be the problem, so now I'm looking for a fuel tank in good condition.

Picked the car up today anyway after paying €750+ (and I got a discount on the labour too, but without the fuel pump) and drove the car home without a problem. It's pretty quick now, at least compared to my 1.6 TD daily driver.

So, now it's time to freshen the bitch up a bit, fit a good fuel tank, put some Ronals on and sell the heap.
