Yes, but depends on software. I've no experience with something else than definite diagnostic tool for VAG cars - VCDS - VCDS can draw nice graphs of various parameters, useful for such check.

If you can get hold of anybody with VCDS it would help - at least you could see where the problem is. My B4 went sluggish - checked the pump timing and found out it was out, so slackened the 3 bolts off and tweeked it a couple of degrees and hey presto - back to normal...eventually a worn pump will need replacing, but it gets you out of immediate trouble.
Its a while since I had my B4, but having a full version of VCDS certainly helped keeping it going! Have a look at the Ross-Tech link below - it will give you an idea of what to look for. http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/tdi.html Last edited by M4rkp; 27-03-18 at 11:58 AM. |

...or simply buy in ebay some cheap chinese ross tech cable clone for 15-20 quid. Or, if you want to support them, and are not scared about limitations the fact that licence of VCDS-Lite is tied to one PC, buy VCDS Lite licence AND ordinary OBD2 cable which is based on FTDI chip.
