Default 100 Avant airbox

Hi all

At the minute, I've got a K&N filter on my Audi, trouble is when you first start the car up, it runs really rough and when its warm it runs too fast, then when you turn it off it carrys on running for about 10-30 seconds.

After asking round, the verdict is that the air filter is to blame.

So... I'm going to fit an original airbox back on. I can imagine that they would be a bugger to find though, so would a VW one fit? Seems as most VW parts from the same era look as if or do fit.

Anyone know if it will work or where I could get a Audi one from?

Cheers,
Dan.

Oh, and heres a picture showing the filter

Seems like you could fit any one for a carb car. Mine is a pan filter like would fit on yours.

My old Audi 80 with the same engine used to run over due to the rubber gasket between the carb and the air filter being split - common problem apparently. Could it be the same with yours and not the K&N?

Had a look at this yesterday.

Turns out its got a Weber carb. Bonus!

Had a little tinker with it and got it running a little better. Needs a little more tinkering with though.

My 80 CL is over running (1.6 Weber), so I might check out the rubber gasket.

Don't buy from VW/Audi, get from GSF.

Sorry, forgot to say, its got a cork gasket. I squashed it down a little further and it was running a tad better, so I think a rubber one is definatly on the cards.
