Default Brake Disc

Hi,
Just wondering if your still interested in brake front disc's and caliper's cause I have a set which I removed from my 1985 WR quattro last year.

Thanks,
Dec.

I would be if Rob has sorted out what he needs. You have the carriers? As I have 239 solids

Hi, I may be wrong but the wr quattro calipers fit but the mounting bracket dose not fit due to fixing hole spacing (92mm V's 76mm and M12 V's M10 fixing bolt size) wr quattro discs are 280mm and five stud not four stud!!!

Golf G60 Mk2 discs go straight on with the right 4 stud pcd @ 280mm diameter. The calipers are easy to get (mk3 Golf cross matches) but the caliper carriers rarer and expensive - and don't bolt to the strut without an adaptor - so not a direct fit, but not impossible.

An alternative (which I did to my early Fi GT) is to fit MK2 Golf 16V discs (the right 4 stud 100mm pcd) @ 256mm diameter, with later 2.2kv GT or coupe quattro calipers and carriers satisfying the close 76mm caliper carrier to strut mounts - these carriers have a 853 615 125 part number and aren't handed. Calipers are 357 615 123 A (or 4 for the other side), easy and plentiful on the calipers - the carriers quite scarce. Standard brake hoses match up, and you have to adjust the rear brake proportioning valve a little. But someone on here may be able to help if you post a parts wanted ad.

Amazing that even 256mm discs look small on it!

Cheers Dec, sorry just found your post.
Ur calipers will not work on my application as I was going to use the calipers for my sons mk2 polo. I have now bought g40 polo calipers. Regards. Rob
