Default rear heated window / radio amplifier

Hello, I have a 87 Audi 100 CC avant, the problem is the top half of the heated window is not working, also this is where the radio receiver is,either of which aren't working, however the lower half is. any advice on this matter would help no end. I have checked through the manual for things to be related and I have not yet checked the amplifier unit nor have I checked the fuses, but to my thinking, I thought if it was an issue with fuses surely the whole window would not work. also when i run my finger down the wino the raised heated element parts there seems to be what look like spaces ?

Many Thanks Chris

Chris,

My 87 CD Avant has no receiver built into the rear window. Are you sure about yours?

Sounds like you have a break in your window's element. If so, I think this can be repaired by using a sort of liquid metal. Not sure what its called but I think I saw it on the Frosts auto restorer's website.

It may be coincidental that your radio and window are playing up simultaneously. Give the fuses a look anyway.

Use a multi-meter with a pin attached to one lead, the other end on the supply to the screen supply to locate the break, then carry out a repair with Bare Conductive Electric Paint, £6 a pen.

If "top half" are two stripes used as antenna, remove trim and check amplifier. Heating wire should be connected to amplifier and amplifier should pass the power forward.
